Bull Run Middle School finishes 2nd in Virginia Stock Market Game
A Stock Market Game team from Bull Run Middle School won the George Mason University Region and finished 2nd overall in Virginia. The team consisted of 8th graders Carter Cunningham, Mitchell Hummel, Brandon Morrell and Justin Williams. Their advisor was Gifted Resource Teacher Jeff Lucier.
Approximately 2700 high school, middle school and elementary school teams were entered in the 2015 spring competition. Teams are given $100,000.00 to invest in stocks and mutual funds through the use of a computer simulation of the stock market. The team with the highest valued portfolio after 10 weeks of trading wins.
On Friday, May 15, 2015 the team attended an awards luncheon at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond where they were recognized for their accomplishment by the Virginia Council on Economic Education. They are the second Bull Run team in three years to attend this ceremony.

Parent Information Night for Rising 6th Graders

NJHS Volunteer Opportunity
We have an opportunity for any new or old NJHS members wishing to earn a few service hours this spring. Students can help our the sixth grade language arts teachers with some at-home work, cutting out Enterprise Day materials.

Attention 8th Graders! BHS Course Request Verification: June 8
Course request verification letters for Battlefield HS were mailed home on Wednesday, May 20th. Students wishing to make adjustments to their course requests must indicate on the verification form the course(s) to be added and/or dropped and return the list with parent/guardian signature to the Battlefield Counseling Center by 3:00 pm on Monday, June 8, 2015. Students may not request any new courses or level changes after June 8th. Students are expected to remain in their AP and Pre-AP classes for the entire year.  Click here for the letter that accompanied the course request verifications.​ Please contact Ms. Fermo with any questions or concerns.
Calling All Rising Bull Run 6th Grade Students!
Bull Run Middle School is looking for students to join the 6th Grade Eagle Beginner Band! Students do not need to have any previous experience in band to join, and classes are held during the regular school day. Band is an exciting and fun way to learn an instrument, perform new music and make new friends in middle school!

Mr. Malechek, the band director, will be holding one more instrument test session. This session will allow your student to try out several different instruments, and pick an instrument that they will enjoy and help ensure their success in band. Students can choose from such exciting instruments as tuba, trombone, baritone, clarinet, flute, percussion, trumpet, and saxophone. All rising 6th graders are welcome to come out, as well as join the Bull Run band program.

The last session will be held on Monday, June 8th from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Bull Run Middle School Band Room. Please feel free to contact Mr. Malechek at malechmc@pwcs.edu with any questions.

Summer Reading: Reading Gives You Super Powers!
Open a book and find your super power! It's time to finally catch up on that book you've been too busy to read. Bull Run Middle School highly encourages all students to participate in the summer reading program. Students may read books from the summer reading lists or ANY other appropriate titles.
Summer Reading Lists

Students who participate and turn in their documentation forms will be eligible to participate in a fall carnival. In addition, they will earn one extra-credit "A" in their language arts classes for reading one book or two extra-credit "A's" for reading two books. Students can choose one of the following options to document their summer reading:
Option 1: Submit your summer reading documentation form electronically. Your language arts teacher will have your information before you arrive on the first day of school. You can submit this form before September 11th
Option 2: Print the BRMS summer reading documentation form, fill it out, and hand it to your language arts teacher by September 11th
Option 3: Print the PWCS summer reading documentation form, fill it out, and hand it to your language arts teacher by September 11th.
Option 4: Print your
reading log from the public library's Read to the Rhythm program. Hand it to your language arts teacher by September 11th.  

BRMS Summer Sports Camps

Battlefield Academic Camp Registration is Now Open!

Office 365 for Students
All students have now activated their Microsoft Office 365 accounts. With this account, students will have access to email as well as online versions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and OneNote which they can utilize at school or at home. In addition, students will have 5 licenses to download MS Office 2013 on their home computers, laptops, cell phones, and/or tablets. Attendance Line
Bull Run Middle School has an automated Attendance Phone Line that you can use to call in any student absences. Simply dial 703-753-7125, and leave a message including the first and last name of the student (with spelling), the student's grade level, your relationship to the student, and reason for missing school. If your student is out sick, please indicate the doctor’s diagnosis or the symptoms your student is having. Thank you! 

Parent Portal
Bull Run Middle School staff members are available to collect parent portal forms in the front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parents need to show a photo id and give the signed form (emailed to them within 3 days of initial registration) to a front office staff member to have their account activated.  More information on this process can be found by clicking on the "Parent Portal" tab on the left side of the front page of this website.
