All Prince William County Public Schools will be closed Monday, March 2, 2015 due to weather advisories for icy roads and surfaces in certain areas. Code Red for employees. All school division activities including Professional Development sessions are cancelled. SACC will not open. Telework subject to policy.

"If I Were Mayor" Essay Contest Winner
Congratulations to Sarah Jagels for winning the "If I Were Mayor" Essay Contest for the Town of Haymarket. The contest was open to all Virginia Students enrolled in the 7th grade during the school year. The Bull Run Middle School 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies teachers worked together to promote and support students in this important cross-curricular activity. Sarah was recently recognized by Haymarket Mayor, David M. Leake, and Social Studies teacher, Mr. Craig Hooper, for her outstanding accomplishment.  
Bull Run Middle School Beach Bash
The BRMS PTSO will begin selling tickets to the upcoming Bull Run Beach Bash starting on March 4th during student lunches. Students can also prepay for pizza and a wristband for games. Please review the flyer below.

The PTSO is asking for volunteers to help with the event which will be held on Friday, March 13th at 7 p.m. Please click here to sign up or email brmsvolunteers@gmail.com.  We need you!

Grade Eight Writing SOLs begin March 9th
All eighth grade students will be taking their Writing SOL tests during the month of March. Please refer to the calendar below for assessment dates.

Office 365 for Students
During the next month, all 6th grade students will be activating their Microsoft Office 365 accounts. Once activated, students will have access to email as well as online versions of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, and OneNote which they can utilize at school or at home. In addition, students will have 5 licenses to download MS Office 2013 on their home computers, laptops, cell phones, and/or tablets. "Special Focus" Special Education Newsletter
Please click here to access the Special Focus newsletter which includes information on transitioning students with IEPs to a new school, resources for parents of students with special needs, and information on "Sibshops", a workshop for siblings of students with special needs. 
Dodging Heart Disease
The American Heart Association Event "Dodging Heart Disease" will be held on Tuesday, March 17th from 3-6 pm.  Teams will be made up of 6 players, with a minimum $15 donation per player.  If you are interested in competing, get your teams turned into Mr. Denne or Mr. Puhlick by 3/15.
Concussion Seminars for 2014-15
All 6th graders and all new students to the county must complete a concussion seminar in person in order to try-out for a sport. The following are the dates for the seminars for the 2014-15 school year:
 
March 17th - 6:00

The online seminar is available to those students and parents who have completed the in-person seminar the previous year. You must print the certificate and turn it in to Mr. Bianco, Athletic Coordinator for Bull Run.

Girls + Math + Science = SUCCESS!
The “Girls + Math + Science = SUCCESS!” conference will be held on Saturday, March 21 from 8 a.m.– noon at Marsteller Middle School. Coordinated by SPARK, the PWCS Education Foundation, and the Woodbridge branch of the American Association of University Women, the conference targets students in grades 5–12 who are interested in careers in math, science, or technology. The conference is also open to interested parents and teachers. Details and registration information are available at all PWCS schools.

The $6 student conference fee ($9 for parents) covers preordered materials and a souvenir t-shirt, so register early to be assured of attendance. Register using the Girls + Math + Science = Success! Attendance Line
Bull Run Middle School has an automated Attendance Phone Line that you can use to call in any student absences. Simply dial 703-753-7125, and leave a message including the first and last name of the student (with spelling), the student's grade level, your relationship to the student, and reason for missing school. If your student is out sick, please indicate the doctor’s diagnosis or the symptoms your student is having. Thank you! 

Parent Portal
Bull Run Middle School staff members are available to collect parent portal forms in the front office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parents need to show a photo id and give the signed form (emailed to them within 3 days of initial registration) to a front office staff member to have their account activated.  More information on this process can be found by clicking on the "Parent Portal" tab on the left side of the front page of this website.
